I enjoyed my time as a Film Scoring Certificate Program student 25 years ago as it provided hands-on experience. But all doors have been closed since and I never made a dime from the industry. I personally cannot understand how anyone gets in the door. The industry gate keepers literally aren't letting you in unless they have to. Talent/ability seem to be meaningless. That said, I think UCLA has a moral responsibility to do surveys to see how many people have done the program over the years and how many of them are making an income from composing music for film, TV, and/or other media. If prospective students and their parents see that number (I estimate that the ratio is only around 2%) and still choose to enter, then the university shouldn't be blames as it was transparent. If this greatly decreases enrollment and you are forced to end the program, so be it. It doesn't make sense to run an operation that doesn't lead to an end. Enter a program to be a teacher, so you can teach future teachers?? People enter this with the goal of being TV/film composers. Too many educational institutions, instrument/gear manufacturers, and sample library companies should be held accountable as well since they are all full of failed composers and other musicians who know damn right well that almost no one has a chance yet will sell them everything under the sun as they keep that hope alive. It might not be illegal but it sure is immoral.

I just read that this woman has a track record of success on the website of a company she tanked after a phone call. And then I found out she was the CEO of Taco Bell. And then I found out she had that title from 2020-2023. And then I realized that track record meant success for herself but she is possibly the worst CEO on the planet for the brand and the companies she works for. Taco Bell has become THE WORST fast food over the last four years and it appears she left the company in shambles yet profitable. Much like all fast food is learning right now profit means nothing when your service sucks, is anti consumer, inhumane and purely greedy. When Taco bell and cracker barrel fail she should be held accountable and seriously punished for the crimes against her shareholders and customers.

The format of 2022 was much better. Graduates were taking pictures with the Dean and were not handed a scroll from a busy and messy looking table. It just looks so rushed. Sad! No mentions of receiving with honors either.
